Why Hakka Marathon?
Close up with the wonders of the Hakka world heritage
The Hakka Houses of Nanjing have a history of more than 1000 years and were recognized as World Cultural Heritage sites thanks to their rich history, vast number, exceptional scale, unusual designs and unique style, which have earned them the name “mythical buildings of the mountais”. Every single of the Hakka Houses has preserved unique cultural features until today. The race track of the Great Hakka Marathon is specifally designed to lead throughseveral clusters of these world heritage Hakka Houses, and even allows runners to access the interior of the biggest Hakka House of the world – called Shun Yu Lou – so as to get in close touch with its majesty.
Unique experience of the Hakka culture
The culture of the Hakka people blends and integrates many influences and traditions from ancient China, and it constitues a unique and living cultural treasure. The interaction and exchange taking place between participants and local people and their folk culture, forms a unique feature of the cultural tourism experience of this event
Most beautiful Marathon race track
The Great Hakka Marathon features a most beautiful race track amidst World Heritage sites, starting from Taxia village, passing through the ancient town of Yunshuiyao (filming location of the famous movie Yunshuiyao), along romantic alleys and age-old trees, through an enchanting scenery, allowing athletes to take in the unique athmosphere and culture during their run.
Blend of pleasure and challenge
The race track leads along changing landscapes, and runners will experience a divers mix of surfaces, such as paved rural roads, unpaved farm tracks, paths along tea plantations, cobblestone alleys and mountain roads. This change of sceneries and surfaces offers both pleasures and challenges to the runners, and the rich colors of autumn will make this experience even more attractive.
